Meet Nicole
I have been teaching at CIT for a little over 2 years now. I have a great familiarity with the old GED content, as well as the new CAEC content – I even helped develop the new curriculum content! One last fact about me: I love teaching and I love learning.
Teaching Style: In my teaching style, I am a guide, and you are an explorer. Instead of giving direct solutions, I prefer to pose questions, offer hints, and point out patterns that lead to a deeper understanding of a wide variety of concepts. My focus is on helping you grasp the “why” and “how” behind the content. My goal in tutoring is to help you experiment with different methods of deciphering answers, so that you can apply it to all sorts of questions in an exam. One of my strengths as an educator is my ability to explain one concept in many ways; ideally, in a way that makes sense to you as an individual!
Strengths: Finding topics and ideas in all types of text, Grammar & conventions, How to formulate, support, communicate, and write a response, Working with maps, graphs, and visual courses, Processes in math, with and without a calculator.
Subjects: English CAEC Reading, English CAEC Writing, English CAEC Social Studies, English CAEC Math
Meet Mira
Hello! I am a passionate and cheerful educator with over 15 years of experience teaching English and ESL across international ESL academies and public schools. Throughout my career helping language learners, post-secondary students, and adult newcomers, I have specialized in guiding students through major educational and language transitions. I am a certified CELPIP Level 2 Instructor and a Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Bootcamp graduate, which means I can help you navigate Canadian language standards for work, immigration, and study.
My absolute favorite part of this work is watching my students gain the independence and confidence they need to succeed. When we work together, you will find that my approach is highly supportive and practical. I don’t believe in just memorizing grammar rules; instead, I focus on helping you understand how English actually works in real-world scenarios and exams. I break down complex reading, writing, and speaking concepts into clear, manageable steps, tailoring my explanations to fit your specific learning style. My goal is to equip you with the strategic tools and confidence you need to tackle school assignments, workplace conversation, or language proficiency test independently.
My Education: Ed.D., MAEd in English, BA Communication
