CAEC
FULL-TIME
Structured Learning. Instructor Support.
Commitment To A Set Schedule.
Careers in Transition’s Full-Time CAEC Preparation Program is designed for eligible Albertans who need a structured learning environment and ongoing instructor support as they work toward preparing for the Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC).
Unlike our self-directed CAEC On Demand courses, the Full-Time Program is an application-based training program. Learners follow a regular schedule, work with instructors and receive ongoing support throughout their studies.
Funding may be available for eligible learners through the Government of Alberta’s Foundational Learning Assistance (FLA) program.
Applying does not guarantee acceptance. All applicants must complete the application and assessment process before being accepted into the Full-Time CAEC Program.
What Is the Full-Time CAEC Program?
This is more than access to online CAEC course materials.
The Full-Time CAEC Program provides a structured approach to learning for individuals who benefit from regular instruction, a consistent schedule and ongoing support while preparing for the CAEC.
The program is intended for learners who are ready to make their education a regular part of their week and participate in a full-time learning environment. Program hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 2:30pm. Program hours are set and flexible attendance is not available. Programs are 5 months in duration, and students must be fully committed to the entire duration.
The Full-Time Program May Be Right for You If:
- You want the structure and accountability of a regular learning schedule
- You benefit from working directly with instructors
- You need support determining where to begin and what skills you need to strengthen
- You are unemployed or underemployed and looking to improve your education
- You are able to commit to a full-time learning program
- You are willing to complete the application and assessment process
How Funding Works
Foundational Learning Assistance (FLA) is a Government of Alberta grant that can provide financial support for eligible Albertans participating in approved skills training, including CAEC preparation.
Funding is not automatic and not everyone will qualify.
To potentially qualify, applicants must meet program eligibility requirements. These include:
- Being an Alberta resident for at least six months
- Being a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Being unemployed or underemployed, including working fewer than 20 hours per week
- Meeting any additional program and funding eligibility requirements
Every learner must complete CIT’s application and assessment process before they can be considered for acceptance into the Full-Time CAEC Program.
Submitting an application is the first step. It does not mean that you have been accepted into the program or approved for funding.
After you apply, a member of the Careers in Transition team will contact you regarding the next steps and assessment process.
